Senator Damon Thayer Recognized with Award for Conservative Excellence

The American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF) recently released its annual legislative ratings for members of the Kentucky General Assembly. With a score of 91%, Senate Majority Floor Leader Damon Thayer (R-Georgetown) has been recognized with the 2020 Award for Conservative Achievement, making him one of only five Kentucky State Senators to receive this accolade.

“I am honored to receive this award. Putting conservative principles into action through legislation is a priority for me as Senate Majority Floor Leader,” Senator Thayer said. “Since 2016, Republicans have secured supermajorities in both chambers of the Kentucky General Assembly. I think the representation of the legislature is an indicator of the values shared by Kentucky voters. I will remain steadfast in my efforts to ensure legislation reflects those values.”

Senator Thayer’s lifetime score of 91% ties him for the best ACUF score among members of the State Senate.

The ACUF selected bills from the 2020 Regular Session that focus on conservative principles. These bills focused on three philosophical criteria: fiscal and economic, social and cultural, and government integrity.
